Class of 2021 Graduation

Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts Graduation 2021

On behalf of the SLSPA Graduation Committee, we are excited to share with you the plans for the Class of 2021 Graduation. This is a unique situation and we are committed to providing a meaningful experience for our graduates. 


Graduation Date: Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 at 6 PM

Location: Highland High School Auditorium

2166 South 1700 East 

Salt Lake City, UT 84106

Guests: 4 per student

*Masks are required for all students and guests.


 Cap & Gown Pick up: June 1st, 2021 - 8 AM - 1 PM


In order for students to receive their cap and gown, students must test negative for COVID-19 between Sunday, May 30th, 2021 - Tuesday, June 1st, 2021. 


Students may test at SLSPA on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 between 8 AM - 1 PM and pick up their cap and gowns upon receiving a negative test result. Students may choose to test elsewhere but must provide a copy of their test results prior to cap and gown pick up. 


June 1st, 2021 from 8 AM - 1 PM (no exceptions). Only the graduate is allowed to pick up their cap and gown. We will not release caps and gowns to friends. If applicable to the graduate, all honor cords, sashes, graduation tickets, etc. will be in the student’s Jostens bag. If a parent will be picking up the student’s cap and gown, please come prepared with a copy of your student’s negative test results.

  • Students who do not provide a negative COVID-19 test will not be allowed to participate in the SLSPA graduation ceremony. 

  • Caps may NOT be decorated per SLC School District policy. Students who decorate their caps will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. Extra caps will NOT be provided.


Senior CCR Meetings: Students must have completed a College and Career Readiness meeting with our counselor, Willow, to be eligible for Cap and Gown pick up. To schedule a CCR appointment, please contact Lexie at to schedule a 30 minute meeting.


School Fees: Outstanding school fees must be paid by Wednesday, May 28th at 2:30 PM in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. Please watch for an email from Shelly with further details. Students and Guardians are responsible for checking in with the Highland High School Treasurer regarding any Highland High School Fees.


Graduation Rehearsal:  Wednesday, June 2nd @ 4pm - Highland High School Auditorium 


Performers: Only students performing and speaking must arrive at the Highland High School Auditorium at 4 PM dressed for their performance and with their cap & gown and ready for the ceremony. Performers will partake in a rehearsal starting promptly at 4 PM. Please ensure your student is dressed and ready to go at 4 PM. Students will NOT have the opportunity to change or get ready after the rehearsal. At this time, only students will be permitted into the auditorium. All other students will need to arrive at the Highland High Auditorium at 4 PM.


All Graduates: All students participating in the graduation ceremony must arrive promptly at 4:45 PM fully dressed in their caps and gowns. At this time, only students will be permitted into the auditorium. NOTE TO STUDENTS: Please be advised that the gowns are slightly sheer, so please encourage your students to dress appropriately underneath their gowns. 


Graduation Ceremony: Wednesday, June 2nd @ 6 PM
Graduates will have an opportunity to participate in a traditional graduation ceremony at Highland High School on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6 PM. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets. Guests will not be admitted to the auditorium until 5:30 PM. We kindly ask that you wait in your car until 5:30 PM to prevent gathering. 


Required Procedures and Protocols: 

  • If you or any guests are sick, please stay home! 

  • Only the graduate and their 4 guests will be admitted into the Highland High School auditorium. Guests must present a ticket for entry -- no exceptions.  

  • Masks must be worn at all times.

  • Social distancing of 6 feet between guest groups must be maintained.

  • There can be no gatherings of physical contact of any kind. We kindly ask that once you exit the auditorium that you please leave the campus.
